The IEEE Aerospace and Electronic Systems Society (AESS) is a professional organization focused on the advancement of integrated electronic systems and the specialized technologies required for complex environments—ranging from the depths of the ocean to the far reaches of outer space.
Astronautics is the science and technology of space flight beyond the Earth's atmosphere. In the context of AESS, this domain emphasizes the survival and functionality of electronics in the vacuum of space.
refers to the high-performance, mission-critical systems that serve as the "nervous system" of aerospace platforms. This goes far beyond consumer electronics, focusing on durability and precision.
Aeronautics involves the study, design, and manufacturing of machines capable of flight within the Earth's atmosphere. AESS looks at how electronic systems enable modern flight and improve safety.
